Our Coaching Philosophy
We believe that time on the water has the power to transform and our coaching is rooted in respect for the ocean, rivers, and the people who explore them. Through Paddle Canada Sea Kayak and River Kayaking courses, we support paddlers of all levels as they build skills, confidence, and a deeper connection to the natural world.
Our approach is learner-centred, safety-focused, and encouraging. We meet each paddler where they are, creating a supportive environment that fosters growth, curiosity, and self-reliance. We believe paddling is more than a technical skill—it’s a pathway to improved mental health, resilience, and a greater appreciation for the power and beauty of Mother Nature. Whether you’re just starting out or refining advanced skills, our goal is to help you paddle with confidence, competence, and respect for the water.

Our Coaches

Adam Rosenbaum, Owner & Head Coach
Adam Rosenbaum is an SKGABC Level 2 Guide, Paddle Canada Level 1 Sea Kayak Instructor, and Paddle Canada Rolling Instructor.
Adam's journey in the outdoors began in the pristine lakes and rivers of northern Ontario, Quebec, and Labrador, where he developed a profound appreciation for paddling and portaging through Keewaydin Temagami.
After completing a Bachelor of Management degree and gaining years of diverse professional experiences across the technology, non-profit, and hospitality sectors, Adam chose to pursue his passion for paddling by enrolling in the Adventure Studies program at Thompson Rivers University. This decision marked a pivotal moment in his career, where he was able to gain formal training from leaders in the adventure tourism industry, and thus, his career in the paddlesports industry was birthed.
Since graduating, Adam has spent years perfecting his craft by guiding sea kayaking trips in Clayoquot Sound, the Broughton Archipelago, Desolation Sound, the Discovery Islands, Barkley Sound, and the northern Gulf Islands, as well as teaching skills courses, guide training, and continuing to expand his paddling skillset at every possible opportunity.
In his spare time, you can find Adam surfing the wave at Surge Narrows, chasing rain on the Van Isle rivers, and ski patrolling at Mount Washington where he has been part of the pro team for 4 years.
Our Equipment
We believe great instruction starts with great gear. While many programs rely on tired, entry-level equipment for beginner courses, we outfit our students with top-of-the-line, high-performance sea kayaks and paddling equipment. Using premium gear allows you to feel what’s truly possible on the water—without being limited by your equipment. Our fleet features sea kayaks from world-renowned UK manufacturer Valley Sea Kayaks, carbon-fibre paddles from Belgium-based Segla Gear, sprayskirts from Czech company Hiko, and PFDs from NRS, ensuring comfort, confidence, and performance from your very first stroke.

How It Works
Consultations are available in person or via video chat, making it easy to connect wherever you’re based. We’ll sit down together, review your ideas and plans, and help you refine them into a solid, well-thought-out trip strategy—so you head out confident, prepared, and self-reliant.
This service is ideal for paddlers who want expert insight without hiring a guide for the trip itself, and for those looking to grow their independence and decision-making skills on the water.
